A Day Of Friends and Laughter

On 10th April, I went to one of my primary school friend’s birthday party. She invited her friends from SOTA (School Of The Arts) and friends from Xinghua primary school, which was my primary school. Before I went, I was having butterflies in my stomach as I was very excited but nervous because her new friends were coming and I did not know if I could get along with them. Questions like “Are they mean?”, “Are they difficult to get along?” and “How many were coming?” filled my mind.

When we reached, we went in with a loud, “Happy Birthday!” But I guess we were too early, my friend was not at home yet. When she was back after fetching her sister from school, my three other primary school friends and I helped her with the water balloons. At that time we talked about our secondary school life, jokes and stories that were hilarious! Some of the stories had us splitting our sides. When I was pumping water in the balloon, I accidentally released the balloon and the water gushed out of the balloon and spurted on the birthday girl’s face. Imagine that! We started laughing our heads off once we saw her wet face.

Time passed and most of her SOTA friends were already here. I started mingling with some of them and they were not as bad as I thought they would be. We went to a nearby park to have the water balloon fight. It was SOTA versus Xinghua. In no time, the water balloon fight started.

During the water balloon fight, there were immense laughter and I could hear shrieks of fun and laughter. Well, I was surprised we managed to get along so well. After that, we went back to have the buffet. The fragrance of the mouth watering food was so appealing that I could see saliva coming out of everyone’s mouth. Soon after I could see that the food was diminishing fast! Some were playing table tennis, some were chatting while some were using the video game console. It was quite late and some people had to leave soon so we had the cake cutting ceremony rolling…

It was around ten and I had to go, but nevertheless, it was the happiest moment for me as I got to know new friends and I “reunited” with my old friends and had fun!

The Result Day...
Everyone has their moments of happiness and sadness. I only like to remember the good stuff that happens to me that lights up my face whenever I think about them. A memory that is still fresh in my mind is no other than my primary school result day and the results of my secondary school thereafter.

My very good friend, Sharanya, has been class mates with me since day one of primary school life till the end; year after year. When we completed our Primary School Leaving Examinations we heaved a sigh of relief. Although the examinations were over, our minds were whirling with excitement on the outcome of our results. We spent most of the holidays going for movies, window shopping and even going to the library just to spend time together.

On the actual result day, adrenalin rushed within us. As the teacher called the names of our other friends one by one to hand them the result slip, we exchanged looks with suspense and excitement.

As her name was called out earlier than mine, she received her results first. I saw her looking through the result slip smiling from ear to ear, looking pleased with what she saw there. Then we both waited eagerly for my results. As I was the last in the class register, I had to wait very long. I was impatient and anxious. When it was my turn to finally collect my results, I held my breath and walked with my heart pounding fast. I got to the table and looked at my results.

I could not believe what I saw. Suddenly my heart swindled with happiness and tears of joy rolled down my cheeks uncontrollably. I showed my mother and Sharanya my results. To our surprise, the difference in our aggregate was merely by just one number. I had 249 and she got 250. My mother was too happy for words. As for us, we were on cloud nine already discussing about our school choices.

We went to a few schools open house together before deciding our preferred school. It was love at first sight when I first saw cedar girls’ secondary school. The newly renovated ambience and fresh clean look was an impression not to be forgotten. We decided that very day that this was where we wanted to spend another four years studying together. We chose all the exactly same six choices for our sec schools, obviously Cedar girls being the first choice. We were overjoyed to know that indeed we got the same school.

Although we are no more classmates here, we are happy to be in the same school where we can still catch up with each other like the good old primary school days…

Sisyena's Happiest Moment

One of my happiest moments occurred when I went to a Lady Gaga concert last year. I had a good overall score for my mid-year examinations, and my individual scores were quite good, as well. I managed to get the 3rd position in class for my overall score. Therefore, as a reward for my hard work, my father bought three Lady Gaga concert tickets: One for himself, one for my mother and one for me. Yes, my parents, too, are huge fans of Lady Gaga’s songs.

I found out the good news one night over dinner. My father told me that he had a surprise in store for me. Originally, I wasn’t that excited. In fact, I was rather indifferent about it. I assumed that it was just another trip to some restaurant. Then, I heard the news. I began screeching like a chimpanzee. If my mother did not hold me down, I think I would have brought the whole roof down. I called up about fifty of my friends to spread the good news, posted it on Facebook, and spent hours blogging about it. Not only did I get to escape one whole night of cramming for the upcoming preliminary and PSLE examinations, I also got to hear one of my favourite singers sing LIVE, and not through the radio or my iPod.

For once, I actually planned ahead what I was going to wear and not just stick my hand into the messiest closet in the house and randomly pull (I literally have to pull my clothes out, thanks to the mess) out a top and bottom.

On 12 August 2009, I marched into Fort Canning, with my parents. When I went in waving my ticket around like a giddy lottery winner, my mouth suddenly dropped open. I was a bit late, the crowd was growing by the minute, people were cutting queues in a desperate attempt to buy tickets at the last minute, and Lady Gaga was not there yet. However, I refused to let this destroy my happy mood.

Unfortunately, after a while, the wait seemed to have undesirable effects on my mood. The heat was unbearable. In fact, I nearly fainted, due to the heat, firstly, and the crowd. I was a really bad case of someone with claustrophobia. My parents gave me a borrowed ice pack, and tried to fan me to keep me alive. Something else to dampen my mood was the fact that Lady Gaga herself was one hour late! However, when she finally showed up, my heart soared. I was jumping, screaming and trying to sing along to her songs with my horrible voice. All my favourite Lady Gaga songs were sung. I did not know what came over me, but I was suddenly acting like a really crazed fan. My parents had to leave a bit earlier, just as the last song started, as none of us were actually prepared for this delay of one hour and had other things to do as well.

Just as we were walking out, before the crowd started moving, we noticed Lady Gaga herself walking into a van. Lady Gaga was actually less than ten metres away from me! I screamed my lungs out in excitement.

This was, by far, one of the best days of my life.

My Memory when I See the Word 'WATER'

I was at Hougang Swimming Complex for a swimming lessonon a Sunday, 2 years ago. At that time, I was afraid of swimming in the deep pool as I was just a beginner. First, i swam the length of the pool a few times. Then, the instructor asked me to walk to the middle part of the deep pool which was the deepest part of the pool. He told us to jump into the pool. I was extremely afraid of jumping into the pool. I just stood rooted to the ground while the rest of the class jumped into the pool. The instructor started talking to me, my feet were at the edge of the pool. Suddenly, the instructor pushed me into the pool. I froze and I did not know what to do. I immediately regained my composure and did what he taught me. The next time I did it, I succeeded

Favourite primary school memory by Rasveen

My favourite primary school memory is when my primary 6 class went to the marina barrage. Our purpose of going there was to take pictures with our classmates and bond together with one another. On this trip, i partnered my best friend. When i reach there i was overwhelmed. The place was very beautiful. We sat at a spot with a group of friends and started to chat and play board games. We played cluedo, monoply and other games. We also played truth and dare. After playing the games, we ate the snacks we brought. After hours of fun, we made our way back to school. It is really my favourite and most unforgettable primary school memory.
My favourite primary school memory was during the last day of school,GRADUATION DAY!!!! We got dressed in shorts,t-shirts, mini skirts, boots, and dresses. We had to ask two representatives from each class to dance on stage. My class did my favourite them of music, HIP HOP!!!!!! So sad we didn't win but who cares... We also had this local Singaporean artist to come and play the guitar and sing her latest album.. It was so fun and exciting. We had a buffet and Ben 'n' Jerry ice-cream. After the whole day ended, many of my friends shed tears of sadness unfortunately i could not shed some tears out after forcing myself but that doesn't mean i don't miss them at all. We were given each a crumpler bag and a teddy bear. I asked the people in my gang to sign on the teddy bear and write notes on it. It was such a memorable day for me!!!!

Yuva's Favourite Primary School Moment

I never really liked mother tongue lessons but i have always enjoyed acting with my friends infront of the class. The best of one of the memories that i have about primary school have to do with both of these.I was in primary school. It was a debate competion about the watching of television.I and my best friend had lots of practise and we were both very excited about our performance as we were planning to act as if we were on a life tv show while debating.our performance was very funnny and the whole class laughed at all our hilarious jokes and i felt satisfied with our hard work.

Favourite Primary School Memory

Hello, my favourite Primary School memory is when I went to NEWater Center. It was after PSLE and everyone felt relaxed. Only 3 people per class was allowed to join the excursion as the whole P6 level was involved. In total, there was about 30 people. I went with my bestfriends, Sarah and Cheyenne. We had a whale of a time there. We were allowed to walk anywhere we like, of course, we had to come back when the guide tell us to. The NEWater center is really really really cool. But, however, I dont really dare to drink the water from NEWater onwards because I know how they process the dirty water to clean water. Its disgusting! However, the technology is really advanced. The equipments are so big. And awesome! We had awesome time there anyway. Sarah's iPod Touch had alot of games which we all played. It was really hilarous. We were laughing the whole time. We were taking alot of photos too, especially me because I brought my camera along! As for me, I took alot of random photos and post on Facebook! There were unglam ones, of course. Hehe. We tried to take group photos often too because we're all going to different Secondary school. I miss my friends and I hope we could meet up again!~

Lydia's favourite primary school memory

Lydia's favourite primary school memory:

One day when the recess bell rang, we went back to class. After that, the boys were sweating, they looked like they have just bathed and they really stunk. The period just after recess was mathematics and the teacher was strict and fierce, especially to the naughty boys in class. When we greeted her, I was surprised when she suddenly called out names. Then of course she started to reprimand them about their wet shirts and what they should do and stuff. The girls in my class were of course laughing our hearts out!

I have many favourite primary school memories. One of them was when I went on a school excursion trip in the P5 June Holidays with my friends and teacher. India wasn't that fantastic. But, we tried to make the best out of it... We invited friends to our hotel room, and we shared snacks and cracked up after trying for half an hour to find a nice show to watch. We also played pranks on the friends from other schools who were also in that excursion trip. In the bus, we sang all these weird tamil movie songs which I have never heard of before. My friends obviously heard the songs, since they knew all the words. The trips were quite boring, but my friends, with their weird jokes, etc., made it quite enjoyable. The trip was overall quite okay, and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Elmaine's memory:
When I see the word 'PET', I would think of my mother's dog when she was young. My mother had a dog when she was young. The doy was named Blackie. He was not bought from any pet shop, but, was picked up by the roadside, thin and hagged. I remembered how my mother use to talk of Blackie as a dog who is very loyal to her. As far as I can remember, Blackie was a rather pitiful dog. He was abused by his previous owners. My mother felt sad for him and my grandparents agreed to allowed my mother and her sister to keep the dog. The dog had an affection for my mother more than her sister. No matter where my mother went, even in the house, Blackie would follow her. According to my mother, he's a rather obedient dog. He doesnt really cause troubles for them and is properly toilet trained. Of course, he have already passed away but he was a great dog.
SISYENA's memory

When I see the word, "pet"...
I think about the time I lost one of my turtles. I had 5 turtles, four male and one female. The female died the first about a few months after she was bought. Then, I was left with the 4 turtles. One day, at night, when the tank was left outside, a stray cat had entered our house, and bit off the head of the turtle. It was quite gross and sad to see the tiniest and most helpless turtle the next day floating in the tank without a head, dead. For the next few weeks, the tank was kept in the kitchen to protect the other three remaining turtles. They are still living up till now. Two of them have been in the house for seven years, and the third one, which was bought at the same time as the one that had it's head bitten off, for five years. Tiny little Issac will never be forgotten.

Lydia's memory...

LYDIA's memory

When I see the word "tree"...
the first thing that came to my mind was the big trees surrounding the car park when I was young. When I was about eleven, the big trees there were chopped. When I noticed that the huge trees were replaced by little trees, I was so surprised that I quickly ran and asked my father what had happened to the huge, tall trees. I was so young at that time. But know when I had grown older; I know that wood is used for many purposes like making furniture, utensils, pencils, flooring, paper and many others.

Yuva's Memory...

During the March holidays last year I went underwater in the South China Sea of Malaysia at the Tioman Islands.
My family and I took a motorboat to a beach nearby where two people onboard thought us how to use the snorkeling gear and provided us with a life jacket. Shortly after practicing at the beach, we were brought further out to the sea. One by one, we jumped into the icy cold water. Instantly we were surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of colourful marine fishes which looked absolutely out of this world. I had some bread in my hands and the fish literally ate them. It was the closest encounter anyone can get to feed real life fishes while in their habitat. I will never forget swimming amongst the fishes and the scene of beautiful corals in the wide blue ocean.

Nurul

Found blog...

This blog is very attractive. The colours strike out (purple and black). Purple and black are my favourite colours. The author likes twilight and the blog has a lot of twilight stuff and twilight fanatic fans will love to go to this blog. The blog author write long and detailed post which describe her everyday events. Her blog layout is colourful, and her layout is simple and easy to use. There is not much bombastic words, making it readable. The blog's link is http://www.twilightandmusicandawesomeness.blogspot.com/ .

Nurul's Scariest Moment...

The scariest moment of my life occurred when I at universal studios, USA. I went through this haunted house maze and the ghosts were so well-dressed up that they looked like real ones. When I entered, there was this Pontianak that clenched me by my neck and threatened me with a knife. What a scary incident!

Found blog...

Blog link: http://www.srgmerlion.blogspot.com/
The blog has a very attractive layout (that is, to Liverpool FC fans). It is very easy to find all the parts of the blog (the tag board, music player, blog entries, linkages, etc.). The pictures and graphics (though there are only three) are also related to the main theme of the blog, which is most likely the Liverpool FC. They are also of good quality, one of them even edited by, most likely, the owner of the blog. However, the pictures do not really enhance reader interest or understanding, though, as the pictures are just pictures of Liverpool’s well-known striker, Fernando Torres. This blog is most likely intended for Liverpool FC fans. The owner has made an attempt to attract the fans to his blog with the contents of the blog, by posting news of soccer matches involving Liverpool FC, for example. There are some spelling errors and short forms used as this is probably not for formal use. The blog could be meant just for family and friends only, too.

My Happiest Moment...

I was very happy when I received my PSLE results. Due to my negative attitude towards studying the whole year, I expected somewhere from 220 to 240 marks out of myself. However, in the end I got more than 250. It may not be that high like 260 and above. However, it was about 20 marks more than I expected. I thought I could only go to Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' School (Secondary), and only because I was affliated. When I realised I could go to other schools like Anderson Secondary School and Cedar Girl's, I was beyond overjoyed.

Found blog...

The layout is good. There is a picture to show what the blogger is recounting about. The background of the blog is quite simple and a little dull and boring. Overall, i will give it a 3 for its layout. The blogger recounts the place that he visited is like a dream place and the picture depicts the same. So overall, the graphics are good as they follow the description of the blogger so for graphics i will give it a 4. The content is good as the blogger describes the place very vividly. The blogger makes the place and the visit sound very exciting and pleasant. Finally for content, i will give it a 4.

My Moment...

During the march holidays, I went to India. The moment I stepped out of the India airport, I received a culture shock. Over the next few days, I got over the culture shock and started to like India. My favourite part of the trip was shopping. I managed to buy clothes for my cousin’s wedding in December. I also attended a far relative’s wedding. I learnt that weddings in India do not take place on time. The roads in India are rather bumpy. I also managed to visit some relatives which I have never seen in my life. Overall, I enjoyed my trip very much.

Found Blog...

The link of the blog is http://carboncouture.blogspot.com. The layout is quite simple and attractive, usable in the sense that it is easy to see everything in the blog and it is really organized. I will give the presentation /layout three marks. For the theme, it is about fashion and there are graphics about shoes, clothes, bags, spectacles, hairstyles and other things related to fashion. It enhances readers’ interest and also helps them to gain more knowledge about how to make your normal stuff into something more special. I will give three marks as well. For design and graphics I will give three marks as it has purposeful photos showing the variety of things from the latest trend. It also sticks to the theme. For the category interest, the author put pictures and information on the blog. The author also presents in an interesting way, with many pictures so that it will not be boring so that the readers will take some time to slowly browse through the photos posted. I will also give three marks for this category.

My Happiest Moment...

My happiest moment was when my whole family went out together. I could still remember that it was my first time watching a movie with my family. During the movie, we ate the popcorn so fast that we finished it before the first half of the movie. After that, we even went to a beach. Next, we went to a nearby hawker centre to have our dinner. Even though the day was simple, it was a day to treasure for me.
Elmaine:

My happiest moment was when I received my PSLE results. I didnt expect to topped the class, nor did I expect to do so well. I thought I wont do so well because of the Maths paper that was a killer. But when I saw I got an A* for Maths, I was bursting with happiness and pride! I cant believe my own eyes and was rather shocked. That was my happiest moment that I can remember so far.
